Bradford Theatres: Engaging harder-to-reach audiences in community-based arts and culture
One of the oldest purpose-built concert halls in Europe, St George’s Hall was seeking funding for a major restoration project, inclusive of a new heritage-based outreach, education and audience development programme targeting schools and the BAME community.
We worked with Bradford Theatres to explore how local community leaders and members might engage with and benefit from the Hall, outside of traditional performance attendance.
The appetite to engage with the Hall was apparent, and strategic recommendations were made on how to tailor activities to suit the specific audiences and to make collaborative partnerships within the community.
The research was used to feed into the (successful) funding bid and the Hall was ready to reopen its doors in 2019.
